Overview
Adventure Crew is a dynamic non-profit organization with the mission of connecting city teens to nature and each other through engaging outdoor adventures. Serving nearly 1,000 students annually from 26 schools in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, Adventure Crew provides city teens with no-cost outdoor adventures including kayaking, biking, hiking, snow skiing, rock wall climbing and more. Through Adventure Crew’s Pathways program, students gain valuable support and experience that may lead to a rewarding career in the outdoor, environmental or recreational industry. As such, our next Executive Director needs to have a dedicated interest in the outdoors, a deep desire to provide outdoor adventure opportunities to a deserving population of students, and a cooperative spirit of adventure that inspires a highly capable and dedicated team of outdoor professionals.
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the public face of Adventure Crew, promoting the organization and its goals and achievements to the greater Cincinnati area community, business leaders, foundations, and philanthropists. The ED is accountable for and leads fundraising activities as required to meet annual and long-term financial and operational goals and is responsible for the overall management of the organization. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors to identify and implement short and long-term strategic goals and is accountable to the Board for achieving said goals while staying true to the organization’s strategic direction. The ED manages a team of dedicated employees to help drive the mission of Adventure Crew.
Key Accountabilities
Fundraising to support and grow the mission, goals, and programs of Adventure Crew. Researches and manages grant applications.
Public and private communication to the organization’s constituents, media, funding partners and others, clearly conveying the vision of Adventure Crew today, as well as our strategic future and to increase the overall visibility of Adventure Crew and our mission throughout the region.
Establishes, grows, and maintains relationships with various community organizations, key partners and supporters of Adventure Crew. Cultivates and develops donor prospects including individuals, corporations, and private family foundations.
Is responsible for the successful implementation of Adventure Crew’s school and community-based outdoor educational programs.
Develops and monitors an annual budget and provides overall management of the fiscal operations of Adventure Crew in cooperation with the Board Treasurer and the Finance Committee.
Reports to and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors in policy development, strategic planning and development.
Develops administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Developing and implementing marketing/communications strategies.
Reviewing and approving contracts for services.
All other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience within a nonprofit preferred.
Proven track record of raising significant funds, with the ability to raise sufficient funds annually from the public, governmental organizations, foundations and other sources to meet the financial needs of Adventure Crew.
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong public speaking capabilities.
Ability to interface and collaboratively engage with a wide range of private and governmental agencies, foundations, nonprofits, and school personnel.
A passion for the outdoors and for serving youth in our community.
Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
POSITION DETAILS
Work Location: Cincinnati, OH
Work Remotely: Blend of work-from-home (in Cincinnati area), and office location.
Job Type: Full-time salaried.
Salary Range: $70 - $90K+, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: 403b match, flexible schedule, holidays & PTO, healthcare assistance.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with some weekend and evening events.
