New path ahead

We are each on a journey in this life. At different points our path splits and we have a choice to make in our going forward. I’ve been called in a new direction now and so I write this in what is my final week as Executive Director for Adventure Crew.

My experience here has been one of the most beautiful and rewarding trails I’ve ever traveled -- rich with steep climbs, sunlit surroundings, invigorating cool breezes and breathtaking views. Like drinking cold water on a hot summer day, it has quenched my heart’s desire to be part of this amazing adventure.

I am grateful the Board of Directors gave me the opportunity to help lead this organization for nearly five years. Thanks to such talented staff members, amazing volunteers, dedicated teachers and courageous students, we’ve arrived at a new peak, stronger, bigger and higher than ever before.

So much has been planted: Our Crew Pathways for advanced green learning and career exploration; swim lessons and lifeguarding opportunities; more Crew schools; new government grant pipelines primed for the year; impactful strategic partnerships; and Crew Cares, a powerful outdoor mental health program with a new, broad base of support. With the right nurturing, this will all continue to grow.

And I have every confidence that in another five years, this peak we have scaled will be but a foothill to what lies ahead.

I will miss all of you and I thank you for being my friend, my colleague and very often, my inspiration. May the wind always be at your back and the sun warm upon your face.
