Spend Valentine's Day the Crew way.

This Sunday is Valentine’s Day, and we’re excited to spend it with the ones we love! Whether you’re celebrating with your significant other, with your dearest friend or as a family, here are some ideas inspired by our Outdoors for All Guide for how to spend the day the Crew way.

Get your heart pumping on a hike. One option that’s great for families, couples and even furry valentines is Sharon Woods. For water views, take the paved loop around the lake. Or head to the Gorge Trail for a more rugged walk in the woods. Either way, keep an eye out for any birds and wildlife you might be able to spot along the path.

Spice things up with a new experience. Who doesn’t love trying something new? You and your valentine could try your hand at disc golf (Mount Airy Forest has a good course.) Or grab a sweet treat and take a stroll along the new Wasson Way. It doesn’t matter what you choose: The key is just to find something different that you can enjoy together.

Find the perfect pair for supper. If your Valentine’s Day plans involve preparing a special meal, we recommend shopping local. Findlay Market is a great year-round option for fresh fare from local vendors. Find a new recipe you and your valentine will love, then shop for ingredients and prepare the meal together. Pair your dinner it with the perfect local brew or bottle of wine.

See stars. Take some time from your busy schedule to look to the skies with your loved one(s). Visit a west-facing city park – we recommend Alms – to watch the sun set. Or head outside and look for constellations in the night sky: The Cincinnati Observatory is an excellent local resource.

Look to your future while you plan for a further-flung adventure. Part of the excitement of a backpacking or camping trip comes from planning it! Spend some time dreaming up an adventure you can look forward to, and then research everything you need to know and prep to have a great time. Our friends at Road Rivers and Trails offer adventure planning assistance, so check them out if you need help!
