Meet the Crew: Boundary Waters participants

We're thrilled to be partnering with Camping & Education Foundation to send a small group of Crew teens to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota again this summer! Five students will take part in this trip of a lifetime: Ajani, 9th grade, Clark Montessori; Andrew, 9th grade, Roselawn; Madz, 9th grade, Clark Montessori; Maeve, 11th grade, School For Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA); Maryahna, 11th grade, SCPA.

To be eligible, students had to be recommended by a teacher and attend "cruising school" with the Crew and Camping & Education Foundation staff from both organizations made the final selections. "These are students who consistently demonstrate a good and positive attitude; handle challenge and change well; collaborate and cooperate well with adults and students alike; and show a fervent desire to experience more outdoor adventure," said Program Director Paige.

The Crew teens selected are looking forward to the trip next month.

“I’m excited to try new things, spend time on an adventure of my own and about being on the water," Madz said.

“I'm excited about the Boundary Waters trip to try new things in the great outdoors, to explore different places/countries and the challenges that you can do surviving outdoors, and also have memories of traveling to great places," Maryahna said. "Another thing that I’m excited about is that I'm going out of the country and traveling without my parents for the first time, and getting on a plane for the first time.”
