Meet the Crew: Erin Harper, volunteer

Whether they're helping during our adventures or making sure events like Ohio River Paddlefest go off smoothly, volunteers are vital to our Crew.

Erin Harper has been an enthusiastic and essential volunteer with us since 2016. She came to the Crew when a friend invited her to volunteer at Paddlefest and was quickly hooked on our mission.

"I saw this quote that I really liked: 'When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength (Maria Montessori),'" Erin said.

"I think there is a lot that nature can teach us at any age," she added. "But the earlier a child or teen is exposed to it, the easier it is for them to learn their strength, the magnitude of the earth and the importance of preserving it. I love that Adventure Crew gives kids access to that and changes their worlds -- something I had the privilege of experiencing at a very young age through my family."

Beyond devoting countless volunteer hours each year to Paddlefest, for which she's now a member of the planning committee, Erin loves to come out with our Crew teens on Saturdays when her schedule permits. (As a Realtor, her Saturdays are often booked up!) Erin also puts her money where her heart is as a Paddlefest sponsor.
