Our Crew Cares

Our Crew really does care about the total well-being of our students.

Crew Cares is our new program that uses the natural world to help provide a unique outdoor approach to fostering positive mental health for teens. Through thoughtfully and professionally designed clinical recreation and group counseling sessions, we can now empower young people with new tools to help overcome depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder and more.

Many city teens are suffering with limited or no access to the mental health care they need; or the traditional care they are receiving is just not working. Crew Cares is helping break through with the power of nature to heal. Where fear is conquered, confidence is gained and peace of mind is discovered.

Modeled after a combination of adventure and wilderness therapy, Crew Cares engages and supports youth in a goal-oriented physical activity that has transferable social-emotional learnings.

Led by our certified Clinical Adventure Therapist, each adventure session is designed to carefully challenge and simulate struggles students may face at home, in school or with friends; and with on-going support and thoughtful debriefings, they learn how to navigate similar situations in their personal lives.

Crew Cares is helping me realize my self-worth.

Crew Cares ran as a one-year pilot program in 2020-21. With ongoing feedback from participants and their referring school counselors, we continuously made improvements to the programming and arrive ready at the start of this school year to now help new groups of teens from among our Crew schools.
