Guiding Your Resolutions

Did you make any resolutions for the New Year? Whether you’ve resolved to try new things, get outdoors more often or live a healthier, greener lifestyle, our Outdoors for All Guide has you covered! Within its pages, you can find ideas and tips that will help you:

-- Find a new place that’s perfect for your favorite outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking or paddling. You might even take a day trip to see what’s waiting just beyond your back yard.

-- Try a new-to-you activity. Whether it’s camping, orienteering or rock climbing, there are plenty of different ways to get outdoors this year.

-- Challenge yourself to expand on your current skills. Hikers might train for a longer backpacking adventure; kayakers could give stand-up paddleboarding a go.

-- Plant a garden so you can grow good-for-you produce, even if you have little space.

-- Compost your table scraps to keep them out of the landfill (and use them to feed that new garden!).

-- Find a farm market where you can ‘shop local’ for food that will help you keep your healthy eating resolution.

-- Gear up to get outdoors in bad weather. We know the old cliché is about learning to dance in the rain. But we’d rather hike in it – and if you prepare properly, you can, too! You’ll log a lot more outdoor hours if you aren’t always waiting for the perfect weather day.

We know it can be daunting to break out of your comfort zone and try something new or change old habits, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Keep in mind that learning is just part of the process, and perfection is never required. Check out our Guide online, or pick one up at locations around Greater Cincinnati, and get started. There are great adventures to be had!
