10 Years of Adventure: Looking back

Looking back on how far we’ve come.

When you start a journey, it takes time to find your feet, adjust to the terrain and set your mind for the work ahead. But once you settle in and find a rhythm, miles can fly by as you conquer challenges, pass milestones and learn lessons.

As we mark the tenth year of Adventure Crew, we're taking a moment to look back and celebrate where we've been and all that we’ve accomplished with your help.

For a full decade, we’ve been connecting city teens to nature and each other through outdoor adventures. In that time, we’ve grown from three pilot schools in Cincinnati to 27 schools on both sides of the river.

From our beginnings taking a few dozen kids kayaking on the Little Miami, we’ve expanded to a roster of nearly 1,000 teens getting out of their comfort zone each year on adventures like skiing, zip lining, rock climbing and hiking.

In ten years, our staff has grown in response to our students’ eagerness for new and more immersive experiences. Similarly, our adventure footprint has extended beyond our beloved local parks to include Hocking Hills, Red River Gorge and the remote lakes of Canada. And a teach step along the way, you were there to cheer us on.

Thank you for supporting and sustaining Adventure Crew through our first decade, and for the outdoor exploration, self-discovery and lasting memories you have made possible for city teens in nature.

In celebration of the trails hiked, rivers paddled and lives changed by Adventure Crew -- over the last decade and for many decades to come -- consider making a gift to our 10 Years of Adventure campaign.
