Celebrating trailblazing women

As we pay tribute this Women's History Month to the often-overlooked women of history who helped shape politics, medicine, science, society and culture, let us recognize the impact many have made for our earth as well. Women have become more prominent and influential within the environmental movement than ever before.

From Majora Carter, who established “Greening the Ghetto,” and “Lady Bird” Johnson’s “Beautification Movement” to Lupe Anguiano bringing worldwide religious support to environmental issues and Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring that called attention to the dangers of pesticides, the environmental movement has long been championed by an endless list of women.

Famed primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall said, “One individual cannot possibly make a difference, alone. It is individual efforts, collectively, that makes a noticeable difference – all the difference in the world!”

Adventure Crew is making a difference by connecting hundreds of city teens to nature and helping them discover the many ways they can care for the earth and grow to do more. Whether through activism, conservation, and/or continued green education and careers, our Crew discovers that they can make a positive impact - and it all begins with a walk in the woods or a paddle down the river.

As it so happens, Adventure Crew is led by a team of trailblazing women, innovators for environmental justice and leaders of systemic change. We are passionate about our natural world and driven to ensure the great outdoors is truly for all. And we are grateful to all those who work with and support us in the mission. Collectively, our individual efforts make “all the difference in the world.”
